H1 Experiment at DESY, Hamburg

Since 1986 ITEP participates in H1 experiment to study the interactions between leptons and hadrons at HERA collider. HERA is one of the facilities at the German national laboratory for elementary particle physics DESY (Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron) in Hamburg.

The main interest of research of H1 collaboration is to measure the structure of proton, to study the fundamental interactions between particles, and to search for physics beyond the Standard Model of the elementary particles.

Contribution of ITEP to H1 construction

• Assembling and tests of the hadronic part of H1 Liquid Argon calorimeter (rings FB1H, OF1H, OF2H);
• Construction of passive parts of PLUG calorimeter;
• Design, construction and tests of the toroidal magnet for the forward muon spectrometer;
• Design, construction and test of hadronic section of H1 SPACAL calorimeter;
• Design, construction and tests of Forward Neutron Calorimeter (FNC). The work in progress;
• Design, construction and tests of Time-of-Flight system (SToF module). The work in progress.
